Writing Craft Day

Perfect your writing craft with advice from four leaders in the publishing business

Join author and journalist Barry Divola, Fremantle Press publisher Georgia Richter, poet and educator Raihanaty A Jalil, and writer, historian, and academic Cindy Solonec for a day of creative and intellectual upskilling.

In Session One at 10.30am, Fremantle Press publisher Georgia Richter (How To Be an Author) will give a deep insight into the publishing process, finding the right publisher for your work, and then a practical workshop on finding similar titles so you can pitch your manuscript effectively.

In Session Two at 12.45pm poet and educator Raihanaty A. Jalil (To Hold the Clouds), and writer, historian, and academic Cindy Solonec (Debesa), will together host a session on Writing Multicultural Australia, covering the importance of infusing your work with respect and authenticity.

In Session Three at 2.45pm Award-winning author and journalist Barry Divola (Driving Stevie Fracasso) will pull out the metaphorical jumper cables and get your story engine ticking over with KICKSTART - busting through writer’s block, creating ideas, thinking laterally, dreaming up characters and situations, and finding your voice.
