For our next Friday@Furphy’s, Helena Studdert will offer insights into Challenges to real-life story-telling, presenting her book no bed of roses: Teo’s Story. This work is an oral history of her father’s life, from his village in Poland, to forced labour in Germany, to a new life in Australia.

About the event
Helena served for over 20 years with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, including as Ambassador to Serbia and as the Australian Consul-General in Bali. Previously, she served as a Captain in the Army, became a full-time mother and moved into academia. Helena has a First-Class Honours and PhD in History. Retired now, she has embarked on her ‘fifth career’ - a growing interest in writing real-life stories. Helena will take us through the project of writing her father's life story and her own literary journey.
