A host of writing classes are held regularly at Mattie Furphy House and online. Some are year-round, others run for a shorter season. Writing at Matties with Louise Allan

Join author Louise Allan (The Sisters' Song) every second Tuesday evening for a writing session in response to a prompt, with the opportunity to read your work to the group afterwards. Classes are at Mattie Furphy House and online, 6.30pm to 8pm.

Book Length Project Group

The Book Length Project Group is convened by author Karen Herbert (The River Mouth, and The Castaways of Harewood Hall) and meets the third Sunday of each month at Mattie Furphy House, 10am to 12pm. Open to all working on book-length fiction or non-fiction, at any stage of its development.

Out of the Asylum Writers Group Poetry classes

Lisa Collyer is a poet and educator who writes poetry with a focus on women’s bodies and how their experiences shape their everyday lives. Lisa is one of a number of OOTA members offering poetry classes at Mattie Furphy House every second Friday, from 10am to 12pm.
