NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2020

Dear Members and Friends,

Welcome to the November Newsletter and thank you to the members who attended the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 25th October. It was lovely to see a good turn-out of eighteen members. Nominations were considered and the new committee elected. Congratulations to the following members who were elected to the Committee for the next twelve months:

Karen Whittle-Herbert (President)

Machiel van der Stelt (Co-Vice President)

Sally Gaunt (Co-Vice President)

Helena Studdert (Secretary)

John Sun (Treasurer)

Peter Bibby

Lynne Deperas

Patsy Millet

Yeeda Topham

Tracey Gregory

It is especially pleasing to have all office bearer positions filled. Thank you to the outgoing committee members and to the members who shared the President's duties for the past year.

After the meeting, we were were treated to a talk by Amanda Curtin, the recipient of the 2020 Western Australian Writers' Fellowship and author of Elemental, which was shortlisted for the Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards and published in the United Kingdom in 2016. Amanda talked about her writing practice and her interest and commitment to bringing the threads of the past into the stories of the present. I was left a little awed by her understanding of her own writing and hope one day I have the same level of insight myself.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with FAWWA over the next twelve months and look forward to meeting you at our events and workshops.

Karen Whittle-Herbert

President

Fellowship of Australian Writers WA
